Get up and go out there!
With a new year comes new challenges, or not. If you’ve already failed to stick to one of your New Year’s Resolutions, I want to challenge you to something different. I won’t ask of you to stop eating sugar or drink less wine...my challenge to you is to get out more often this year.
My challenge is to you is to do 52 “peaks” in the next 52 weeks. I am not expecting of you (or me) to climb Everest or Kilimanjaro. You don’t have to climb the highest mountain in your area for the next 52 weeks. This is what I think you should do:
A “peak” can be any landmark, sunset view, beacon on a mountain, significant point on a route...basically a place that makes you want to stop and take out the camera. The idea is simple, do something, at least once a week in 2016, that is not rushed. Make an effort to go down to the beach and pause, drink in the sun, the salt, the sand. Walk into a forest and sit quietly at a stream. Take a mountain bike, pause before you hit that single track, enjoy the view. Take your car down a coastal road, open all the windows and turn up the volume.
Do something, just once a week that makes you feel good. Everybody has his own place of happiness - go out and do that. Remember to take a picture...good memories needs to be captured and if you do feel you want to post it on social media, use the hashtag #52weeks52peaks and feel free to tag me (@vuurtoring ).
